How To Install Flash in Ubuntu 9.10 With Firefox 3.5

Today I convinced another friend to try Linux. Unfortunately he was a little disappointed when even I couldn’t install Flash so that he could watch YouTube, I couldn’t install it using the installer that is.

Whenever the automatic installation doesn’t work you can always switch to manual and this is how you would do that.

The first thing you need to do is head over to plugin download page.

Once you have downloaded the plugin extract it.

Inside the extracted folder you will see to files, one is the installer you would normally use, the other one is called libflashplayer.so

Open up a folder and navigate to “~/username/mozilla”, if there isn’t a folder called “plugins” make one and paste “libflashplayer.so” in there, that’s it! Now restart FireFox and go watch some cat videos on YouTube.

Don’t forget to tell me how it all went in the comments below.
